Today’s Big Story

Are Witnesses on the Way?

The White House is working to contain the fallout from allegations in Bolton’s forthcoming book

Former National Security Adviser John Bolton

Chances of the Senate impeachment trial hearing new testimony appeared to mount on Monday in the wake of new allegations about President Trump’s motivation for freezing aid to Ukraine, as the president’s defense team argued that he was justified in pushing Kyiv to investigate Democrat Joe Biden and his son.

Former national security adviser John Bolton wrote in a draft of his forthcoming book that the president told him in August that he wanted to freeze aid to Ukraine until the country aided investigations into the Bidens.

A handful of Republicans from across the ideological spectrum appeared to be moving closer to joining Democrats in a vote to subpoena Bolton. Politico reports Senator Mitt Romney said it is "increasingly likely" that more Republicans will join their Democratic colleagues in requesting Bolton's testimony; meanwhile, Senator Susan Collins said details from the book "strengthen the case" for witnesses.

Trump and his allies are now moving to undermine Bolton's credibility, while also preparing to fight his ability to testify during the Senate impeachment trial, according to the Washington Post.

Though the White House continued to push aggressively Monday against witness testimony—especially from Bolton—some aides are now convinced that they will lose that battle.

Dig Deeper:  Four takeaways from the Trump team’s defense at Monday’s Senate trial.

The Dow Drops Over 450 Points on Coronavirus Fears

Worries mount over how the virus’ could impact the world economy

Stocks tanked on Monday after more cases of the coronavirus were confirmed over the weekend, ratcheting up worries over the virus’ impact on the world economy, reports CNBC.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 453.93 points, wiping out the market’s gains for the year. The 30-stock average also saw its biggest one-day fall since October, along with its longest losing streak since August. The S&P 500 dropped 1.6% to 3,243.63, breaking a 74-session streak without a 1% decline. And the Nasdaq had its worst day since August, dropping 1.9% to 9,139.31.

"It’s probably too early to determine the impact to global growth from the outbreak of this virus," Allen Bond, of Jensen Investment Management told the Wall Street Journal. "The impact on global growth is probably the key uncertainty."

FYI: In addition to developments around the virus, investors are looking ahead to a big week of corporate earnings reports. On tap for today? Apple, Pfizer and Lockheed Martin.

A Nintendo Theme Park Is Coming

Actually, it’s more like a land within a larger park

Are you interested in experiencing life in the Mushroom Kingdom first hand? Well, you're in luck.

After months of being tight-lipped, executives of Comcast, which owns NBCUniversal, made the announcement during an earnings call Thursday.

Super Nintendo World, slated for a 2023 opening, is part of a larger expansion at Universal Orlando called Epic Universe that will see the resort double in size, reports Blooloop. Another Super Nintendo World is opening this year in Osaka, Japan—just in time for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

According to reports, people will be able to wear wristbands called Power Up Bands that, along with an app, allow them to collect digital coins that they can use to play games against other visitors.

More Games: Atari-branded hotels with e-sports studios and game rooms are coming to eight US cities.

Save Your Face

The simple fix guaranteed to improve your skin

You're a well-informed, stylish guy who takes care of himself, right? You eat well, exercise and maintain a solid daily grooming routine. But if you're not exfoliating, you're never going to look your best.

Why? Because whatever skincare product you apply on a rough or flakey face will never fully absorb the way it's intended, making it less effective. That's one reason why you want to regularly slough off dead skin cells and other surface debris.

Another reason is to keep pimples away. You see, dead skin cells just never completely go away. They clog up your pores, causing zits to form underneath.

That's why for today's "31 Days" piece, we've pulled together the best exfoliators to save your face. From gritty scrubs to gentler options that help dissolve dead skin with natural acids or enzymes.

Read: Why you should be regularly exfoliating and the best ones to suit your skin concerns.

More People Went to the Library Than the Movies Last Year

Visiting the library is still the most common cultural activity for Americans

Are you as shocked as I am? More Americans went to public libraries than movie theaters or sporting events in 2019, according to a recent Gallup poll.

The data showed that visiting the library remains the most common cultural activity that Americans engage in, with the average American adult visiting their library about 10.5 times throughout 2019.

Gallup found younger people visited libraries more often than older Americans. And that women utilized their local libraries nearly twice as frequently as men.

Perhaps less shocking, The Hill reports that those from high-income households had the tendency to do more activities overall, but were less likely than those from lower-income homes to go to the library.

FYI: There are approximately 117,000 libraries of all kinds in the United States today.
